Safety Town is a four-hour a day, one-week program that teaches safety lessons on animals, strangers, traffic, pedestrians, fire, bicycles, bus, water and guns. The program is designed to provide age appropriate, hands-on safety education for children ages 4-8. The students will participate in activities that encourage safety, including games, songs, puzzles, stories and art. Police officers, firefighters, emergency personnel, and other trained volunteers will take part in teaching the children. The United Way of Scotland County is sponsoring this community service program in partnership with NC Cooperative Extension-Scotland County 4-H program.
The 2017 event was held Monday, June 19th – Friday, June 23rd. Stay tuned for information on 2018 event information.
